Meet iXope: The skin, ear and eye scope powering examinations and procedures in general practice

On any given day in your GP practice, you find yourself assessing ear blockages, eye trauma or skin lesions. Typically, that means switching between different scopes, using awkward equipment and referring to specialists for relatively straightforward procedures.

What if you could use the same device for all skin, ear and eye examinations and for conducting in-practice procedures that were once out of a GP’s reach?

Meet iXope: the skin, ear and eye scope with advanced optical technology. It’s a new, wireless, digital device that empowers GPs to perform more detailed examinations and onsite procedures with confidence, enhancing patient care and practice revenue.

More scope doesn’t have to mean more scopes

Created by Dr Olaf Rusoke‑Dierich, a practising GP, iXope integrates the key instruments GPs use every day – otoscope, dermatoscope and ophthalmoscope – into one wireless, easy-to-use device.

Then it goes further. With digital ear microscope capability and accessibility allowing ear microsuction, iXope empowers GPs to go beyond observation and deliver in-practice procedures such as ear toilet and foreign body extraction. Or to safely inspect the cornea or retina and use it for corneal foreign body removal similar to an slit lamp.

The result?

  • More complete examinations

  • Clearer documentation and communication

  • Medicare-eligible procedures delivered in-house

  • Fewer unnecessary referrals and faster care for patients.

For GPs, it’s a smarter, more efficient way to practise, which opens up new revenue streams. For patients, it means quicker answers, fewer delays, and more convenient care from their local GP rather than unfamiliar specialists.

That’s useful for all patients but especially for those in rural areas with limited local specialists. iXope means they can avoid long, expensive journeys to distant cities.

iXope offers:

  • Otoscope with ear microsuction capabilities: Perform ear toilet and manage foreign bodies under direct visualisation, reducing reliance on ENT specialists

  • Dermatoscope: Capture high-resolution images of skin lesions and track changes over time

  • Ophthalmoscope with digital slit lamp: Examine the anterior and posterior eye with clarity, supporting in-practice care for diabetic eye retinopathies, corneal injuries and eye disorders., conjunctivitis, and diabetic eye changes

  • Full digital documentation: Capture and store images in the patient record, share with specialists, or refer with confidence

  • Wireless and ergonomic: Operate at arm’s length without needing to peer through a lens, ideal for GPs who wear glasses or want to maintain personal space.

Reimagine your day with iXope

A man in his 60s with a pigmented lesion on his forearm enters your room. Instead of reaching for a wired dermatoscope or fiddling around trying to attach something to your personal smart phone, you reach for a wireless, compact dermatoscope. You capture a high-resolution image of the skin lesion and add it directly to the patient’s file. If you decide to refer, you can simply attach the image rather than spending time you don’t have trying to describe what you saw on examination.

Your next appointment is a teenage girl with a red, painful eye following a windy sports carnival. No switching tools. You simply attach iXope’s ophthalmoscope feature with slit lamp capability, and you identify a small foreign body embedded on the surface of her cornea. With the patient calmly supported and the area fully visualised, you remove the foreign body, immediately relieving the girl’s discomfort and avoiding the need for a lengthy trip to the hospital emergency department.

Your final consult, a mother brings in her child, anxious about ear discomfort that’s kept him up at night. Instead of reaching for a wall-mounted otoscope, a separate light source, and perhaps preparing for an ENT referral, you pick up iXope, again connecting the otoscope attachment.

With a clear, magnified view of the ear canal on screen, the diagnosis is simple: impacted wax. After softening the wax, a few days later – using the same device – you perform ear microsuction, guided in real time with clear visualisation on a high resolution screen.

Three consultations. Three different clinical needs, managed with clarity and confidence using one tool.
